About Ashtanga Yoga Vevey

Welcome to Ashtanga Yoga Vevey

Ashtanga Yoga Vevey was founded in 2018 by Delara Tiv with the intention of creating a dedicated space where the practice of yoga can be studied with depth, continuity, and care.

This space supports practitioners of all levels who wish to engage sincerely with the discipline of practice, not only as a physical training, but as a path of self-study, refinement, and long-term development.

Our approach is rooted in respect for the broader yogic wisdom traditions that have shaped these practices over centuries. In addition to the physical practice, the school offers weekly study of traditional yogic teachings throughout the year, in both English and French, allowing practitioners to deepen their understanding of the meaning and intention behind the practice and keeping these dimensions of yoga alive within the community.

We consider ourselves eternal students. The path of yoga is not only an individual journey. It is also a collective one. Practice deepens when it is held within a community, where practitioners breathe, study, and grow together, supporting one another as they navigate the changing rhythms of life.

PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY

Teachers

The practice at Ashtanga Yoga Vevey is guided by teachers deeply committed to the study of movement, breath, and the wisdom teachings of yoga.

Rather than offering generic classes, the teaching emphasizes careful observation, intelligent progression, and respect for each practitioner’s constitution and stage of practice. Students are supported in developing a practice that is both rigorous and sustainable over the long term

Delara Tiv

Advanced Certified Rolfer® specializing in movement education, posture, and chronic pain. Her work is further informed by ongoing study of Neijing Chinese medicine.

Romain

Long-time student of Delara Tiv teaching Guided Ashtanga classes in the intelligent and sustainable approach cultivated at Ashtanga Yoga Vevey.

Advanced practice grounded in knowledge and philosophy.

Delara is one of the rare yoga teachers who not only teaches and practices the advanced A & B sequence of Ashtanga yoga but is also a former professional dancer and therapist. She has the ability to help her students overcome inefficient postural, coordination, and movement habits. Delara has worked with the prestigious Alvin Ailey Dance Company as their therapist and movement educator.

James stands out as one of the very few yoga teachers internationally who has a master’s degree in Sanskrit and yoga philosophy. He is known for his expertise in these subjects and teaches in three different languages.

Romain and Elisa are dedicated practitioners and teachers who fully embrace the unique approach to Ashtanga yoga that Delara teaches, making the physically challenging practice of Ashtanga Yoga safe and sustainable.

Delara Tiv is a certified Advanced Rolfer™, making her a distinguished yoga teacher; have a broad knowledge of the fascial web system across the human body, postural patterns and movement coordination. Through the structural integration of Rolfing®, Delara will have the opportunity to help students better understand their posture and movement patterns in daily life and on the yoga mat. This way, students can understand their limitations and create more effective ways of moving and breathing.

Sustainable Healing Through Yoga Practice

Are You Suffering From Back Pain, Previous Injuries, Perimenopausal Symptoms, Autoimmune Disorders or Exhaustion?

I enjoy helping students and patients overcome their
physical or mental suffering by developing a sustainable
yoga practice and seeking therapy if necessary. I have
studied movement my whole life, studying yoga, breath
work and meditation for almost 20 years

Begin Your Practice with Safe and Supportive Guidance

Starting yoga can feel unfamiliar at first. Many people who come from sports such as running, cycling, skiing, or mountain activities notice that the movements quickly pull on tight muscles and connective tissue, and flexibility can feel like the main limitation. The same can be true for those who spend long hours sitting, where joints and tissues often feel stiff and restricted.

At Casa Vinyasa, beginners are guided progressively so the body can gradually adapt to this new way of moving. Strength, mobility, coordination, and breath develop step by step.

This approach is shaped by therapeutic work with injuries, physical limitations, and chronic pain. Students learn to move their joints more freely, breathe more fully, and develop flexibility and awareness in ways that feel supportive rather than intimidating.

The way asana is taught at Casa Vinyasa reflects this background. The practice is approached with attention to biomechanics, myofascial lines, and breath, allowing students to understand how their body organizes movement rather than forcing themselves into shapes. Over time this builds strength, mobility, and coordination in a way that supports the body and gradually develops a lifelong practice.

What Our Students Say

Here’s what students share about their journey, growth, and experience at Casa Vinyasa, practicing Ashtanga Yoga.

Are You Suffering From Back Pain, Previous Injuries, Perimenopausal Symptoms, Autoimmune Disorders or Exhaustion?

I enjoy helping students and patients overcome physical discomfort and mental stress by developing a sustainable yoga practice and, when needed, complementing it with therapeutic work.

Having studied movement throughout my life and practiced yoga, breathwork, and meditation for over twenty years, I integrate this experience with my work as an Advanced Certified Rolfing® Structural Integration therapist. I am one of the few therapists in the canton of Vaud certified in Advanced Rolfing Structural Integration, and my sessions are reimbursed by complementary health insurances in Switzerland.

My work focuses on helping people overcome chronic pain, injuries, and movement limitations while cultivating easier breathing, postural awareness, and more efficient movement patterns.

Many of my students are also navigating life transitions such as pre-menopause and menopause, where hormonal changes can influence recovery, inflammation, and tendon health. In these cases the practice must be adapted carefully—through sequencing, breath, and intensity—to support balance rather than aggravate symptoms.

Whether working with someone recovering from injury or a strong practitioner seeking to deepen their practice, my aim is to tailor the work so that yoga becomes a sustainable and intelligent discipline that supports long-term health.
